As we celebrate our 60th National Day, we also commemorate 80 years since the Japanese occupation ended.
To celebrate these landmark dates, we've placed the spotlight on two of our WW2-era tales: one set during February 1942, based on the actual events of that fateful date; the other, a vigilante tale inspired by the trials faced by our country and her people in the years after.
Both are tales of our tenacity, our will to outlast challenges, and our indomitable spirit.
HERO – A Graphic Novella on History, Heritage, and Home: Based on author and teacher Leroy Lam's short story, Hero is inspired by the likes of Pearl Harbour and Titanic, imbuing an era of strife with the idealisms of home and love, the driving forces of the soldiers who relentlessly fought for our freedom, dreaming of coming back to a home enshrined in their memories.
HERO (which can be read here) has been adapted into a 24-page full-colour comic, pencilled by James Pereira (SingaHeroes), with inks and colours by Azri Djokoloro & Ada Chan (Crimson Star).
Tales of the Crimson Star - Chapter Zero: Written by Crimson Star creator Ryan Mennen, with intense and dynamic art by veteran artist James Leong, Tales of the Crimson Star explores a different era of the same world, adding to the lore of this shared universe host to standalone tales of action and adventure.
Tales of the Crimson Star: Chapter 0 offers a peek into the world of Crimson Star as he was originally conceived--a vigilante and hero amidst a war bigger than any could imagine...
